We're the SALT of the Earth! (Know Why?)

We are the SALT of the Earth and We are the LIGHT of the World!

Bible says in Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

"तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वह किसी काम का नहीं, केवल इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और मनुष्यों के पैरों तले रौंदा जाए।" Here, God says: "We are the salt of the earth"; before getting into this verse in detail, we must know the importance of SALT!

I discovered that there are over 14,000 uses for salt. 1) SALT is precious than Money.

In ancient times salt was a very valuable and rare commodity. Roman soldiers were paid with salt. Salt was used as a monetary exchange- thus the saying, “worth his weight in salt”, or “not worth his salt”, meant that the person was valuable and needed or not valuable at all. 2) SALT is used for newborn Babies.

“On the day you were born, no one cared about you. Your umbilical cord was not cut, and you were never washed, rubbed with salt, and wrapped in cloth.” ( Ezekiel 16 : 4)

Salt have antiseptic properties that can kill any germs which newborn babies received from their washing after birth. 3) SALT sea or Dead sea act as a Protector for God's people.

"And the border shall go down to the Jordan and its termination shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to its borders all around.'" (Numbers 34 : 12) 4) SALT is used for Flavouring

Salt is used in preserving foods, curing meat and as a flavoring. ( Job 6 : 6) 5) SALT is used in Lord's offering.

"You are to offer them before the LORD, and the priests are to sprinkle salt on them and sacrifice them as a burnt offering to the LORD.” ( Ezekiel 43 : 24) 6) SALT is used for Healings/Miracles.

Prophet Elisha said, “Bring me a new bowl with salt in it.’ So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the spring that supplied the town with water and threw the salt into it. And he said, ‘This is what the Lord says: I have purified this water. It will no longer cause death or infertility.’ And the water has remained pure ever since, just as Elisha said.” ( 2 Kings 2 : 19-22) 7) SALT acts as a Covenant/Promise between God & us.

"Don't you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?” ( 2 Chronicles 13 : 5) Ok. Now coming back to the verse - Matthew 5 : 13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Here we can see 2 sections/sentence in the above verse.

1) "You are the salt of the earth..." Here it's a declaration, that 'we are the salt of the earth.' And we have already seen the good behaviour/characteristics of salt. Wow we are SALT of the earth.

2) "...But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” OMG! Here its a warning and judgement message. We will be put to death/hell; if there is no saltiness in us. Therefore, "Saltiness" is more important that no one should lose. Ok. But if salt implies us then what does saltiness implies?

Saltiness means righteousness. And righteousness means perfection, who do no sins.

But Bible says: "we all are sinners and no one is righteous in this world." ( Romans 3 : 10)

Oh My God! No one is righteous! Then how we can be saved? Only righteous people will be saved as per this SALT theory! Is there any way to become righteous? Yes! Its only Jesus! He's righteous & He's the way. Ok. If Jesus is only righteous, then how He is mingled in between us, to save us?

In above, we can see that, Salt was used as a Covenant or Promise between God and us. What is that promise?

A great promise, which will give us an eternal life, if we believe in Him.

“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” ( Hebrews 9 : 15) Be a "SALT of the earth" and spread your saltiness-in-Christ, at all over the world. God Bless You! Amen!
